Is it possible to control the chapter numbering?

Hello,

Is it possible to control the chapter numbering in the following way: when AsciiDoctor processes a text file and it sees the attribute :chapter-number: 3, it will render that file with the chapter number starting at 3.

This is a critical feature since I tend to write chapters in separate files.
