Building for Kindle now that kindlegen has been withdrawn

fgm
All the information I could find about Kindle builds with asciidoctor-epub3 refer to kindlegen.

However, Amazon has now withdrawn this tool, redirecting to the Kindle previewer. This seems to be relatively recent, as even their own internal docs and info on the KDP community still refer to kindlegen.

Is there already a way to build for Kindle now that this tool is no longer provided, or should one still use the versions floating around the web on various more-or-less suspicious sites ?

Finding such information would also allow updating https://asciidoctor.org/docs/asciidoctor-epub3/#converter-workflow

I build only EPUB, but in case I ever need a Kindle version I simply
convert the EPUB using the command-line converter of Calibre,
`ebook-convert`, which I can include in the Makefile.

Amazon is throwing up barriers for generating MOBI files. This is not our fault. We can provide advice about what to do, but at the end of the day, if Amazon doesn't want to allow users to make MOBI files, there's only so much we can do. Users need to pressure Amazon about this.

Best Regards,
