Is it valid to have this structure where the Introduction, Appendix, Index, and Colophon are chapter-level:

= My Book Title
:doctype: book
== Introduction
= Part I
== Chapter 1
== Chapter 2
// other parts with chapters
== Appendix A
== Index
== Colophon
