Asciidoc syntax is designed to be edited as plain text files.
In theory, any text editor you familiar with should work for you.
Then of course, different editors might have different support for the
asciidoc(tor) syntax highlighting, previews, compilation, snippets etc.
I personally use vim (with my plugin vim-asciidoctor). But I will never suggest vim for a casual person :)
I know VSCode has asciidoc support, probably Atom and notepad++.
