As far as I know, the latest release of https://github.com/asciidoctor/asciidoctor-bibtex/ works with Asciidoctor 2.x. I submitted the PR to fix it and it was merged and released. If you are seeing different results, you'll need to file an issue with the details.

If you are talking about https://github.com/riboseinc/asciidoctor-bibliography, I don't know anything about that project. You will have to ask the maintainers.
