This idea has been proposed, but not yet implemented. I'm interested in suggestions for how to implement it, keeping in mind that we don't want to affect the speed of parsing if events are not being used*.

That would help producing enhanced asciidoc editors with a syntax-highlighting that reflects the instruction semantic and  WYSIWYM features (like Lyx for Latex) or with scrollbar-linked side previews (like markdownpad does).
