I installed Pepijn's AsciiMath parser and patched docbook5.rb to use it.

This works great for blocks. However, inline math like below does not work.

Inline math (stem:[H_2O]) does not work.

Any ideas?

The pull request just needs to be updated to support the inline macro as well as the block.

The area of the code where this is needed is the inline_quoted convert handler. See https://github.com/asciidoctor/asciidoctor/blob/master/lib/asciidoctor/converter/docbook5.rb#L593
