Hi,
thanks a lot for asciidoctor! :-) The subject says it all, how can I center align the section titles? I am making my poor's man PDF slides and I am almost there, I just need to center align the section titles, that I use as slide title, with the trick of using the book doctype so that I have page break on each section. 1 section == 1 slide :-) thanks marco.m |

I was thinking, the PDF theme guide could help you. But I do not see a "heading_align" property...

Before asking, I read and grepped through the PDF style guide and all the documentation, but I didn't find anything that I could apply to heading / section titles for PDF :-)
But thanks anyway for trying... |

marco.m, you are indeed correct, we are currently hard-coding the section title alignment (to the value left). This should be taken from the theme instead. Do you want to file an issue? Hey Dan,
just filed. And, thanks again for all your efforts for asciidoctor! I spent years, really years, trying many text-based typesetting systems (LaTeX, rST, rst2pdf, markdown, multimarkdown). Markdown is the best for readability when you need only simple markup. I tried rst2pdf, which bypasses LaTeX. But I think that rST is less readable than asciidoc, and rst2pdf is not active anymore. Finally I found asciidoc, which is powerful, allows to avoid LaTex and is almost as readable as markdown, but brings in DocBook. Each customisation requires almost as much pain as touching low-level TeX. And then, I found asciidoctor, and then asciidoctor-pdf, which goes faster and bypasses DocBook. I am finally happy :-) Sorry for the long story! I would expect many people to share a common experience :-) marco.m > On 28 Oct 2015, at 05:41, mojavelinux [via Asciidoctor :: Discussion] <[hidden email]> wrote: > > marco.m, you are indeed correct, we are currently hard-coding the section title alignment (to the value left). Thanks for filing the issue! Sorry for the long story! I would expect many people to share a common experience :-) Thank you for sharing it! It's stories like yours that keep me motivated everyday. And, in fact, we share a very similar story. When I discovered AsciiDoc {1}, I knew I had finally found a language that would allow me to express myself and write with ease. But, at the time, it didn't generate very nice output. So I began my quest. A quest that is far from over. Each time I touch Asciidoctor, I try to make the experience even better for both the writer and the reader. If we put our heads together, I'm sure we can continue discovering more happiness. Cheers! |
