Table & column (example from the doc is not working)

In the Table section of the user manual, there is this example:

[.rolename]
|===
|Cell in column 1, row 1
|Cell in column 2, row 1
|Cell in column 3, row 1

|Cell in column 1, row 2
|Cell in column 2, row 2
|Cell in column 3, row 2
|===

In Chrome I get this preview:


Is it a bug in the implementation or in the documentation?
