footnotes per chapter

Hello,

I'm very ecstatic about Asciidoc(tor) - performance is really great and have just started using it...I have master document in which I include each chapter (for some small course I'm working on). Now i wonder if it's possible to get footnotes rendered/counted per chapter and not per book as it's default?

This is a requirement that AsciiDoc Python never implemented, and thus we haven't yet done it in Asciidoctor. I think AsciiDoc Python relied on the DocBook toolchain for these sorts of things...meaning the html backend in AsciiDoc Python was less formal HTML output. We can go further in Asciidoctor.

Would you be willing to open this as a feature request in the asciidoctor repository? (https://github.com/asciidoctor/asciidoctor/issues)

Until then, one way to implement this is by creating a custom template for section {1} (which is what handles chapters) and read off the footnotes that belong to each section. You may run into a problem, however, that the section to which the footnote belongs is not stored...so we may need to look into adding that info.
