Using Asciidoctor in/as a Help Center framework - Suggestions?

Hi All,

I am currently using Asciidoctor for creating our Help topics which i then load into the Zen Desk Help Center. This work flow works, but has some issues.

We are now looking for a replacement solution, and I am trying to find something that would allow me to continue to use Asciidoctor for generating html Help Topics and occasional PDF versions as needed.

Has anyone out there had success stories incorporating Asciidoctor with some Help Center framework OR have something they have put together to use Asciidoctor as the center of such a Help Center?

Atlassian has a way to plugin Asciidoctor to their Confluence wiki. They also make JIRA a ticket tracking system.



The way I most frequently use Asciidoctor is to write documentation, then I preview that in Chrome using the Asciidoctor.js Live Preview extension ( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/asciidoctorjs-live-previe/iaalpfgpbocpdfblpnhhgllgbdbchmia )

Then I highlight and copy out of Chrome and paste that into a Word document or blog's WYSIWYG editor. Most of the HTML is preserved that way.

I also use Asciidoctor to generate HTML and PDFs which I add to our intranet.

My point is I'll continue to use Asciidoctor as a tool in whatever app or system I'm forced to use. Even if it is MS-Word, I'm not going to compose in or format with Word.

Since I'm a developer, I've used Asciidoctor.js in web apps to generate 'Help Docs' on the fly from .adoc text files. It works just like Doc Gist http://gist.asciidoctor.org/?github-tedbergeron%2FAsciidoctor-Website%2Fgh-pages%2F%2Fone.adoc or this https://asciidoclive.com/edit/scratch/1

Thanks for your reply.

I agree with you, i refuse to use word for ANYTHING. If someone has to have a word version, and someone invariably does, then i run an html version of my asciidoctor file through pandoc to word, and that does a pretty good job.

I'm finding more and more contacts, so i'll let everyone here know!
