Image role vs Image metadata

Given the following, who wins - meatdata or role? Or IOW should the float be left or right?

(Note: I asked what the expected behaviour is rather than the current behaviour).

It's really undefined (unspecified) behavior. These are mutually exclusive options. The preferred way is the role, I'd say. The "float" is a very hard-coded, HTML-specific construct that really should be avoided, IMO.
