Awareness of Visual Studio Code extension

abelsromero
Just wanted to raise awareness of an AsciiDoc (using asciidoctor) extension created for Visual Studio Code (https://code.visualstudio.com/).
I just installed Visual Studio Code to give it a try, and as part of my assessment, I looked for AsciiDoc/Asciidoctor support. It has an extension https://github.com/joaompinto/asciidoctor-vscode, with highlighting and preview similar to Atom, but it requires to have a ruby installation with the gem in the path. It definitely can improve by in my case, it works nicely.

Personal note: I am not a fan of Microsoft policies, but one has to admit they are trying and they earn my respect for that. My impressions of the IDE are not bad so far and the Asciidoctor extension is nice.

Thanks for passing this on, Abel! It is certainly exciting to see support for Asciidoctor in the VSCode ecosystem. Documentation is universal and so should be the tools for it.

Cheers,

I've recently decided that I prefer VSCODE over ATOM... so this is good news. Thanks.

Re: Awareness of Visual Studio Code extension

Ted
This post was updated on .
I've also switched to VS-Code on Windows a few months ago because Atom for Windows was too slow to load.

I use this Asciidoctor syntax highlighter https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=justusadam.language-asciidoc

Along with the Asciidoctor Live Preview extension for Chrome.

If you use Asciidoctor-VSCode https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=joaompinto.asciidoctor-vscode together with the Asciidoctor syntax highlighter. The Asciidoctor syntax highlighter over-rides the syntax highlighting in Asciidoctor-VSCode.

So if you don't like the way the syntax highlighting works in the Asciidoctor-VSCode (which I don't), using the two together gives you the best experience IMO.
